Distractions

Instead of finishing up older projects as I have intended to do in 2013, new quilt ideas keep distracting me. Amazon tempted me to order this lovely new book about my favorite style: scrappy.
The quilt on the cover really floats my boat, but thumbing through the pages of Kim Bracket's latest book made me think about the collection of voiles by Anna Maria Horner that I've been hoarding for several years  awhile now.
The fat eighths would work perfectly for this wonderful design, I think! Now, all I need is to find the perfect background voile and a border fabric. Oh, and find some time!
Then there's this little packet of the latest by Bonnie and Camille...I was so excited when I ran across it on etsy, that I just had to buy it! (I thought you might like to see the darling little sugar bowl from Anthropology that I received for my birthday last week. Isn't it just adorable!)
Just in case you think that I haven't been doing anything except dream, here are the chevron sections for the baby quilt I'm working on for Baby Whatshername. Truly, I am hoping to get this little quilt finished in the next week.
Course, none of these things are even on the list of UFO's that I was hoping to finish by the end of March. Maybe I should have named 2013 The Year of the Start instead of The Year of the Finish....now, I know that I wouldn't have any trouble at all with accomplishing that goal! Enjoy your weekend!

  1. I got my copy on Wed - it's so exciting to see it in person. Kim is doing a book signing tomorrow and they asked me to come since I've got some quilts in the book. So glad you are inspired - that sounds better than distracted :).

  3. It's so easy to be distracted by pretty patterns and fabrics, isn't it? For me, the only way to avoid it is to stay away from fabric shops and book stores!

  5. That looks like a great book! Maybe I need to add that to my 'pending' Amazon order! Your sugar bowl would match my vintage lemon squeezer! I've decided that this year is my "Year Of The Slow"! I don't seem to be getting much made at all!

  8. Now you've got me distracted, too! I love the stack of AMH fabrics and think they would look so cool in that design. And I'm really loving Baby Whatshername's quilt. She's a lucky baby!

  11. That book looks like a winner :) I too have a bunch of Anna Maria Horner prints that I've been hoarding for longer than I'd like. Each time I think I've found the perfect project, I almost start, but then I can't bear to cut into it! That's just crazy - it would look so much better in a finished quilt than in a box in the closet! So many fabrics, too little time. Maybe we should make a pact to cut into them and start already?

  12. I can see why you fell for that book. The cover looks intriguing, but I really like the Beachside Bungalow quilt on the inside! Your Wee Whatshername quilt is darling. Love those colors.

  14. Oh goodness - the quilt in that book is such a great pattern and I DO hope you add it to your "To Do" list with some of your hoarded Anna Marie fabrics. It will be simply beautiful! And what can I say about your Anthropologie sugar - bowl other than the fact that I am coveting it!!! Sooooo cute! That's a keeper for sure!
