WOW When I first saw the photo of just the middle and the birds I was like hmmmmm no but then when I saw the last photo I was YES YES YES - WOW this is fantastic
If you're counting votes, mine will return your tally to zero. I'd leave them off. I think the block is plenty busy with the various prints and bird background (such great fabrics you have in your stash!). But then, I tend to be attracted to more clean lines. Could you applique those birds to a solid outside border? Love the pattern, by the way.
So yummy, Carla! Love it. I vote no birds - I think there's such great movement in the block and I would fear that the birds would become a focal point rather than the focus wandering out and around.
Personally, I can't get enough of those sweet birds, and when they are not in the center, I miss 'em:)I like them being focal, both in the center and in the outer area, and think they are a wonderful "tie-in". Which ever way you choose will be the best! :) I also like Linda's idea :)
Since childhood I have had an unquenchable love of fabric. For years now my addiction has been directed toward quilts and, especially, the creation of them. I have the stash to prove it! Fred, my wonderful husband, supports and encourages my hobby. My 3 grown children and their families will never be cold, let's just say. I have a degree in home economics education and worked in a public library until a few years ago. Many days you will find me playing with one or more of my nine beautiful grandchildren.

ReplyDeleteI would vote no as well...but with a white center instead I would want a recount. Love the scrappiness.
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning!

ReplyDeleteI kind of like the birds.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the birds , I think they take your eyes right to them and you miss the other beautiful fabrics.
ReplyDeleteLove the block, leave the birds out.
ReplyDeleteno birds. the dots are busy enough.

ReplyDeleteCool and fresh, looks great with and without... depends on how much washing the piece would get. I love it!
ReplyDeleteSince it is small, you could always embroider the birds instead...
I really love them! It makes the "wheel" look like it's floating...
ReplyDeleteJennifer :)
I like it better without the birds. And I really like that you sew the block in quarters without having to applique the round center.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Stunning! What beautiful fabrics you're using!
ReplyDeleteYep I'm on the leave the birds off bandwagon.
