Fourth Quarter Finish-Along List

It's time to make my list of UFO's to try to finish during the last 3 months of 2013. With Christmas fast approaching, I thought I would be realistic, for a change, and whittled it down to three projects.

1. Joy Christmas Tree Skirt: This is a new UFO and I want it done by the time I put my Christmas tree up right after Thanksgiving. It only needs binding!
2. Crossroads: This is a holdover from last quarter (and the one before!). I got it all put together during the 3Q, but it still needs quilted and bound. I'm thinking straight line quilting. I also am wanting to think up a new name. Any ideas?
3. Juicy Fruit: Oh, how I would love to get this done before the end of the year! I didn't realize how time consuming making so many 6 inch churn dash blocks would be, even with the Mid-Century Modern Bee helping me. In August, I worked at the blocks during a MQG day retreat and may do it again at the November sewing day. After laying them all out, I've decided to make a few large 12 inch churn dashes to add to the mix.
Three projects...three months! Thanks for the motivation Leanne!

  2. I just found your lovely site. Your quilts and your blog are all so fresh and beuitful. In reading your profile my heart was warmed with the fact that you are blessed with eight grandchildren . . . I have two and I am overjoyed with them. I had to wait until I was 60 to have my first, so they were overdue bundles of pure love. I am a retired wife, mother and grandma that is enjoying life and catching up on some of the fun I missed while working. I love blogging, sewing, any thing artsy, gardening and my newest love camping. I hope you'll come visit.

  5. Three projects- that's the perfect number in my book! I'll try to think of a new name for your Crossroads, although I like that as a name! The pink/orange churn dash are wonderful! Would you like a 12" one from 'down under'? And you will have that Christmas tree skirt done in a flash!

  6. All are truly delicious! I know you can do it. One at a time.... How many more churn dash are needed? I think that adding some 12 inchers in there would look wonderful. You go girlfriend!!

  7. I whittled down my list, too, as I thought that with Christmas coming who can get anything done? Can't wait to see your tree skirt, as well as Juicy Fruit. It looks really great, from this vantage point!

No name comes to mind for your quilt, but I love it.

  10. Good for you to take these on over the holidays. You've set a high goal for yourself, so maybe you aren't planning to sew oodles of American Girl doll clothes this year?! A different name for the Crossroads quilt? I see twisted candies in the design. Something like what Smarties look like in a tube. Does that give you any ideas? Thanks for sharing your lovely UFOs. Your great pictures make them look beautiful even unfinished!
