Whimsical Fabrics

There are so many cute whimsical fabrics to tempt me. I love them and buy them. But often, I find myself storing them rather than using them. Ever had that problem?
Over the weekend, I sewed up a block for Debbie. She's the March hostess for the Mid-Century Modern Bee. The cute prints were perfect for her low value color scheme and it was fun to get to sew with them. You can find the pattern here.
I'm determined to use them more often!

  1. Lovely blocks! Do you happen to know the name of the grey pattern fabric that you zoomed in on in the last pic? Awesome fabrics!!!
    Thanks,

  2. Yes I am with Kellye Quilts - what is the name of that fabric?... I need that in my life... well like a kick to the head... but still! I would love to own that!

  4. I followed a crazy impulse for a fussy-cut idea I had that led to much purchasing of novelty prints (some in whole yards!) and since the original idea has been scuttled, I have no idea what to do with them… And some of them are UG-LEE! They do not have the subtlety of the fabrics you have used in those blocks (which I've already told you I adore…) And in general, they're not even colours I normally use. I shall have to find a plan. Thanks for the nudge!

  5. Great block Carla! You have used some fabulous prints. I, however, struggled with this one!

  6. Love it! Too fabulous! I like how this block allows for lots of print but still has the calm of the solid strips.
