Winter Storm Sewing

We are in the midst of a winter storm here in the midwest. It's snowed about 2 inches each hour since around 6 a.m. Thankfully, the snow has taken a little recess for now.
I love days like this because it's a great excuse to spend time with my sewing machine. (As if I needed an excuse.)
Finishing up these adorable Winged Square blocks for Cindy was my first order of business. They are the February assignment in the Mid-Century Modern Bee and I love them so much that I will have a hard time mailing them off. Cindy only asked for one, but I couldn't stop myself from turning out another color combo...so cute! (I just might have to make some for myself.)
But, first off, I am having a ball pairing up wild orange, pink, and red combinations for my own Mid-Century Modern Bee quilt, Juicy Fruit. I made these this morning...
...and have lots more cut out and ready to sew.
Meanwhile, the weatherman says to expect 3 to 5 more inches of snow.
So, after I fill the bird feeders I'll be back behind the sewing machine!
How's your day going?

  2. The snow just started falling here, first just a few flakes, and now it's like "pouring" down like rain, great big flakes. I am curled up under a wool afghan watching HGTV and thinking how good a cuppa is sounding, don't know if I want tea or coffee. Just watching the snow makes me glad I'm all warm and cozy indoors. Your snow is so pretty in the photos. :)

  5. Those blocks are great! I'm hiding from the snow too, though we're in Garden City so it's not quite so bad!

  7. I sure love seeing PICTURES of your snowfall. I know you're taking advantage of your inability to go anywhere, and that's good. Jill is still in California, unable to return home because incoming KCI flights are cancelled. She was due home Thursday and HOPES to get home Saturday! I really, really love the Winged Square blocks you made. Cindy's going to have one awesome-looking quilt! And your Juicy Fruit blocks are great too. So glad you are making more as I'm thinking we'll see a top from these before too long. Have fun!

  11. I have to admit I am a bit jealous Carla. We are getting rain then freezing rain then rain for the next 48 hours. Yuck! I'd rather have the snow!

  12. We just got the the same as Charlotte - freezing rain and then regular, dreary rain. I love snow - pretty jealous of you. And those blocks - love love love!!
