2nd Quarter UFO Finishes

Back in April, I posted about the 6 UFOs that I was hoping to complete during the 2nd quarter of the Finish-Along. Using every last minute to get the binding hand stitched down, I'm happy to show you 3 finishes before the gong sounds Sunday at midnight, marking the end of the first half of the year long UFO challenge. Half of six is not too bad, I guess. Here they are.

Great Granny's Independence Day
I had 14 of 16 blocks complete when I got it out of the box to finish up. I'm not sure why I stalled out because I really love the colors and cheerfulness of this quilt as much as I thought that i would when I began a year ago. You can see more photos and info about this quilt here, in case you missed it a few days ago.

Fortunate Friends
I made the top for this quilt over the last year with my good friend, Vicki, working on it only when we could sew together. Finishing it up was a joy.  I love the Flea Market Fancy fabrics paired with snow Kona solid. I'll be posting my photo shoot in the next few days,  so come back for close-ups of the quilting and backing design.

Mazed
The blocks for this fun pattern were all created as leader/enders while sewing on other projects. I had the blocks all finished and ready to sew together and I"m so pleased with myself for not letting it languish any longer than it has. It's a sweet quilt that I'll enjoy using in my spare "grandchildren" bedroom. Again, I'll show you some more pictures of this finish in a separate post later next week.
I realize, looking at my finishes, that I've got a thing going for white backgrounds, don't I? Maybe I'm in a rut!
Now, to start gathering up UFO's for Quarter 3. There's more where these came from, believe me!
Join me in congratulating other quilters for their UFO finishes at SheCanQuilt. I"m also linking with Lynne's  Year of the Finish in 2013.

  5. Great finishes, Carla! You're not in a color rut. Gosh, you used SNOW in one of them! Ha, ha. Good for you to get so much done when you've been traveling and had other obligations. I'm feeling guilty myself, for not finishing more, even though I never go out on a limb, publicly, to say I'm going to finish XX number!

  6. Congrats on your finishes! I'm about running 50% too--but as you say, half of six is a great deal of quilts to finish in three months!
