These Hot Days of Summer

When the weather outside is this hot
and even the usually perky daisies are feeling pretty wilty
I'm definitely not in the mood for gardening
or a trip to the zoo with the grandkids.
 Taking in a baseball game
or getting out the mixer
to cook up some favorite sweets doesn't sound fun either.
If I owned a swimming pool, I know just where I'd be hanging out,
wearing my shades
and having a cool treat!
But, since I don't.....I'll just have to stay inside waiting for a change in the weather
 as I cut and sew
till the sun goes down and I can venture out again!
I love these hot days of summer......I get so much done!
How are you surviving these extra warm days?

  1. Warm days?? What warm days?????? For the past two weeks we (in France) have been sweltering in 30-40 degrees, so darn hot. Then this week BAM it's raining and windy, it's cold and down to 15 degrees yesterday. What is going on!!!! I had to go in search of a jumper, not good. Linda

  3. Summer has skipped us here in Seattle. Apparently we are the only place in the continental U.S. that isn't experiencing a heat wave! IN FACT, we have had just 78 MINUTES of summer (80 degrees & up)! sigh. not bitter. no.

  4. Cute fabric and fun post. I'm doing my best to stay out of the heat here in the a/c and much of the time is being spent sewing. It is 82 degrees already and only 6:20 a.m.

  5. How fun to recognize at least two of my fabrics in your wordless story! Yes, it's most dangerously HOT! In fact, it's been hotter here than places in Kansas and Missouri! I've been free motion quilting in my basement, and I'm lovin' it. Looks like you're making the most of your time too.

  7. What a fun post, Carla! Your I-Spy blocks are super cute too. With several more hot days in our immediate future, you'll be done with your quilt before you know it!

  8. We are at 18 days of 100+ so you know that I feel your pain! I've been sewing a lot this week and I'm avoiding the iron at all costs. Your quilt is going to be adorable!

  9. Love the eye-Spy squares!!!
Yes, those of us in South Texas have warm days almost all year. I ran the air conditioning during all 12 months in the last year. (Not continuously during the winter, but a week here and there.) It has been in the 100's most of the summer. Yesterday, we had an hour of rain! It dropped from 100 degrees (F) to 78 within the hour! We got 2 1/2" of rain in that hour, too. Glorious! I sit under a ceiling fan in the summer when I quilt!

  10. Very cute post you clever girl! I feel guilty being in the house during the summer but when it is in the 100's I do love using that excuse to stay in!
