Honestly, there were times when I wondered if I'd ever finish sewing blocks for this quilt! But, oh, I am so glad that I didn't quit!
There are a lot of seams, let me tell you. Most are pressed open. Sigh. Enough said! For those who wonder, the quilt top is made up of 195 six inch-churn dash blocks, plus 5 twelve-inch blocks and one large eighteen-inch churn dash.
The bright orange, pink, red, yellow and white scrappy fabrics look stunning and cheerful posing among the fall pumpkins, don't you think!
Many of the blocks were made for me by my talented bee-mates in the Mid-Century Modern Bee. Begun in 2013, the gals tolerated making the churn dash blocks, not just once, but twice, when my month as the Queen Bee rolled around. I can never thank you enough ladies!
I can already tell that this is going to be among my top favorite quilts of all time!
Now, to choose a backing and get the quilting done. Winter is on the way!
Oh my! Isn't this the prettiest thing? I keep going back to look at all your photos to see better all the prettiness! Those pops of yellow were pure genius! And again, your setting adds to the joy and delight! Wonderful flimsy Carla!
ReplyDeleteStunning!!
ReplyDeleteCarla, I LOVE it. So pretty. It looks absolutely delicious!
ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty, I can see why it might become your favorite! Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I'm in the middle of making a churn dash myself, all those six inch blocks take time!! You inspired me to keep plugging along!! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteWow...WOW!! This is absolutely beautiful. The colors are perfect together. It is definitely a year round quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe Churn Dash has never been a favorite of mine but with your lovely rendition I might be obliged to change my mind. ;) The fact that you used different sizes of the block gives it so much movement that I have to keep going back to see what I missed. Lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it quilted.
That's committment! It looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors. The ones that take the longest are the ones we love the most. Great job.
ReplyDeleteHi Carla! Absolutely my favourite, too! I'm in love with these colours at this time and your pattern is wonderful! I like how you add few other size blocks there. I made baby quilt with these colours but it's small and nothing to compare with yours. This goes to my list! x Teje
ReplyDeleteforgot to say that your photos are also fantastic! Wondering how you found this perfect place with pumpkins! x Teje
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this one! The colors are fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteYummy. Pink, yellow and orange with some red done in a classic block was a great design idea. Glad you didn't quit either.
ReplyDeleteA classic block in my favourite warm colours! I am in love.
ReplyDeleteSo bright and cheery Carla. Glad to have contributed in a small way.
ReplyDeleteWow, is that gorgeous or what! The photo backdrops suit this quilt to perfection. Nice to have such helpful accommodating bee buddies. I should be getting some house blocks from mine this Saturday - so exciting!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. GOODNESS this thing is GORGEOUS!!!! I am suffering SERIOUS quilt envy!! :)
ReplyDeleteI just love this piece so much! It will really sparkle on someone's bed! Wish it were mine!
ReplyDeleteIt was really fun making these blocks not once, but twice! This is such a cheerful quilt. Beautiful photo op. I think I'm going to change my name to Carla, because you and Carla Fawcett always have the BEST quilt photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm so tickled to see this quilt top, Carla! It turned out so neat. Of course, I had to look for my own blocks, and I found at least two of them. So, so glad you stuck with this one. Yes, it most assuredly is worth being one of your all time favorites. Quilting it will only make it more so.
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning! The colours are gorgeous and yes it looks great with the pumpkins. So many blocks all together.
