Yesterday, I loaded up my Dog and Pony Show of quilts and headed to Jefferson City, Missouri, two and half hours away. It poured rain all the way there and back, but my sweet hubby agreed to be my driver...(I sure picked a good one, with him!).
While he found a nearby Panera and was soon happy with a coke, cookie and WiFi, I enjoyed sharing 25 of my quilts with ninety plus members of the Missouri River Quilt Guild. My topic was Quilting and the Internet. I shared how blogging, flickr, websites, etc. have impacted my "addiction" to quilting. Hopefully, I inspired some to find some new ways to enhance this wonderful hobby we love. Here's a quilt top shown by one of the MRQG members that inspired me! It's a "Dear Jane" quilt all put together with light blue sashing. Patty, the creator, plans to hand quilt it next winter. These little 4 inch blocks, make my 6 inch Farmer's Wife blocks seem large!
I just love how quilting connects us to others who share the same passion!
How kind of you to use my quilt with so many to choose from.

We enjoyed having you. I heard several members say " I think I will try to make something fun next". Thanks for making the trip to JC.
ReplyDeleteYes, Patti's quilt is pretty awesome.
Hated that I didn't get to meet you in person. I am a member of the St Louis MQG and was a visitor last night. Loved seeing your challenge quilts and your talk was very good and informative. Thatnks for the links to all the new blogs.
ReplyDeleteQuite nice! Thanks for sharing. The internet age is truly amazing in what it's done to all walks of life!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful get together. Did you get the sense that some/many/most of the guild members were "online savvy"? Did you suggest the topic, or did they ask for that specifically? What a mutual treat...I can't imagine seeing your quilts, and you(!) in person!! :)
ReplyDeleteThose lucky girls - to see all your quilts in person! So glad you had fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree about The Internet and encourage every gal I meet to get out there and see what everyone else is doing in the quilt world.
ReplyDeleteI was the one nodding her head in agreement with your ideas.
Wonderful, wonderful evening.
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences along the way.
hugs
Gerry
