We had a turkey spend about 30 minutes in our yard this summer. He's sure hiding now! I was thinking about that bird pecking around in the woods when I created this block for the Calendar of Houses Bee that I belong to.
The turkey was a labor of love, I'll just say. The only pattern for a turkey that I could find in my books was for a pieced turkey lurkey that was supposed to end up a 14 inch block or something.
But, the little diagram accompanying the pattern was the just the size I was needing so I measured the little pieces in the picture and made up a mini bird. It took a while. But, he's kinda cute, don't you think. (You better say "yes"!)
Inside the house, Mom and the little girl are busy getting the feast ready...just like I should be doing. Oh, I guess I better go buy a turkey tomorrow since I don't think Tom is coming back to my yard anytime soon!
Outside the house, the wind is blowing and....wait! Is that snow I see blowing in? I sure hope not! I'm not ready for winter weather quite yet. Are you?

another cute house you've made! wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love the turkey! He is awesome. He fits right into the background just like turkey's are supposed to. I sure hope a hunter doesn't come by.......
ReplyDeleteDarling house block! How clever of you to fuss with people in the windows. And the turkey looks plump, feather-y, very well done (pun intended)! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteLove the way you are telling a story with this block - and the turkey is wonderful!

This is darling! Love the fussy cut momma in the window - very clever. SO excited to get to know you through the One Block Over Bee!
ReplyDeleteI love the block you made for me! Thank you for the turkey, which I'm sure was a labor of love! We live right by Pike National Forest and see wild turkeys in the spring. Once while I was washing dishes, I looked out the window and saw a male followed by six females. So exciting! One turkey used to roost on our deck and would eat the chicken scratch I put out for him. So this block is perfect for me!
ReplyDeleteLove your turkey, and the house is wonderful, too. It really looks like Thanksgiving!
