I really meant to begin quilting my Juicy Fruit quilt yesterday, but it was just too cold to be in the basement where my machine is, I decided. So, instead, I began putting together the rows to my latest Free Quilt-- such scrappy goodness!
I began sewing 2.5 inch squares together as leader/enders in a light/dark pattern in January 2014. Assembling them into rows of 44 squares each, I finally have enough for a large bed quilt. Here's what a fourth of the 2112 squares looks like all sewn together into colorful fun!! I plan to sew twelve rows together at a time and then assemble the whole quilt from there.
There's nothing boring about this type of simple quilt. For the postage stamp quilt, Ambrosia, that I did a few years ago, I used a white square for every other patch. It's still one of my favorite quilts and I love to just stare at it!
I think that I could stare at this one forever, too. But, I guess I better be making plans for my next leader/ender quilt instead! I've got an idea....
It is so fun and colorful. I need to to the leader ender thing too!
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love it! I do leader and Enders and make quilts with them, but my fabric is not as cool as yours! Love scrappy!!
ReplyDeleteI need to get a leader ender project cut out. Both quilts are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI have been cutting my scrap box into 1.5 and 2.5 squares for quilts like this (nowhere near enough fabric yet) but I doubt it would look as good as this. Did you edit your scraps, such as leaving any really dull or dark ones out?
ReplyDeleteOooooh! This is just SUPER!!!! You've really nudged me to the edge with this one...maybe 2015 will be the year for leaders/enders for me!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a classic look but oh so good! Why is it that the simplest designs are often the nicest!
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy, scrappy quilt! It makes me smile too!
ReplyDeleteLove this scrappy quilt. I could look at it forever too.
ReplyDeleteOh my! This is just my kind of quilt! Fantastic Carla!
ReplyDeleteI love these little square quilts :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration! I need to get organized to have all those 2.5" blocks nearby to use them as leaders/enders. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteHas the end been trimmed up or is your piecing absolutely perfect? I am in awe!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely dreamy! I love the soothing quality of all these tiny pieces.
ReplyDeleteso simple, so colorful, so very very fun!!!
ReplyDeleteYour leaders/enders is such a great looking quilt, and such a great idea. Every time I sit down to sew, I think about you, and your great example. I need to get going on this!
