The birds are really hungry.....
Living in the country, the snow is beginning to drift. The mailman didn't even come by today!
Who knows when I'll be getting out of our driveway......but I'm warm and happy and having fun sewing away, turning this mess........
into this!!!!!
February is my month to be Queen Bee for the K.C. Scrappy Bee, which is a part of the KCModern Quilt Guild. I'll be asking the other eleven quilters to use red/aqua/grey/pink scraps from their stash to create four blocks like this:
I'm wanting to recreate a fun X- Block quilt that I made last spring and sent to Rwanda, where it's keeping a young child cozy. I loved this quilt so much and am excited to make another one for myself using a little different color scheme.
Since the snowpacolypse is keeping me indoors I might as well stay busy! Right!!
Hope you are warm and safe, even if it is a blizzard outside!
stay warm! I don't miss Midwest blizzards at all!
ReplyDeleteThe quilts are beautiful. Ooh, the red Adirondack chairs in the snow: love that picture!
ReplyDeletethe scrap quilt is gorgeous - I've just signed up to do a New York Beauty at my LQS and am wondering if I've gone start raving bonkers in doing so.
ReplyDeleteThe snow is so very pretty - (for me who has never experienced snowing)
I enjoyed looking at your pictures and your wonderful quilts. We're snowed in as well and expecting ice tonight and tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Quilts! We are getting the storm too, and more snow on Saturday. Quite a winter right? Nice to stay inside and sew . . . can't wait to see what you have next!
ReplyDeleteIsn't this weather impossible!? It looks the same out my windows as it does yours! I just couldn't bring myself to take pictures. Ugh. And to think we've got it like this while the coast of northern Queensland, Australia is bracing for Cyclone Yasi. What's up with all this nasty weather?
ReplyDeleteSeeing your quilt is so renewing. It's really gorgeous, Carla. Once again, you're proving you have fabulous color sense and a real eye for design. You put me to shame... I'm just hand sewing binding on a quilt. Ho hum.
Oooh, that X quilt is fabulous. I love your new color scheme too. And Holy Cow -- if you're still getting snow, we have a long way to go yet -- Stay Cozy!
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a better excuse for sewing the day away. Keep warm.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you, glad you're warm and safe. And making such beautiful things!! :) I remember a blizzard in Rochester growing up, so even though I'm here in Florida, I do know what you're going thru. Love all the quilts!
ReplyDeleteI'm in Texas, missing out on the blizzard! Can't wait to get home next week (hopefully!!!) to start on your blocks. There's a chance I'll miss guild... If so, maybe we can meet up for Starbuck's or something and I can get the fabric from you then. I love this block and have been meaning to try it for myself. This will give me the extra push to try it! Thanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great bee project! I am excited to do it. I am looking for the quilt you did that is the story quilt. I was thinking of making something like this for someone special. If you're at the meeting next week, let's chat. I love your snowman bringing on the snow.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are staying warm and sewing away! That is going to be a gorgeous quilt...
