My good friend, Vicki, sat across from me this past Saturday creating darling Christmas quilts for her grand-children.
Meanwhile, I worked away on dresden blocks for a quilt I've had in my head for awhile now.
Nikki stole my phone and snapped this photo of me hard at work. Do you see my leader/enders all lined up so neatly, ready to sew, as I stitch away on the dresden blocks? Nikki thought that you should see how organized I am! (Sometimes.)
I'm planning on using the grey dots as my background. Any thoughts on what to do for the centers of each plate? Every block will be a different assortment of fabrics in the same color combination of pink, yellow, aqua, orange, green and lavender.
I also managed to finish up another block in the blue color-way for my Soul Searching quilt. These blocks are really large at 24 inches square!
This one puts me at the halfway mark for a twin size quilt when I'm finished.
Anne, from my Mid-Century Modern Bee, requested that we all make blocks in grey and lime from an original pattern that she's trying out. The layout is a secret. Four blocks were sewn up fast during my sewing marathon Saturday!
I wish that I could spend every Saturday sewing all day, but with the arrival of autumn weather, there's lots of yard work calling me to stay home!
And, besides, I'd miss my new little buddy, Moose! He keeps me busy, too!
It looks like you had a fun time and you do look organized!
ReplyDeleteThe pineapple block looks intensive but well worth it!
What fun, love the organized L/E's.
ReplyDeleteYou are having way too much fun! I think you know how much I like a good aqua or teal? Maybe that might be a good choice for the centres of your pretty Dresdens!
ReplyDeleteI just love seeing what you work on....the peek into your fabrics supply is truly luscious :) And yes, it is very helpful to see how those leaders/enders work!
ReplyDeleteThat Dresden quilt will be another stunner! Very pretty. I wish I could go on a retreat. Someday.......
ReplyDeleteDarling little Moose
Such a cute little Moose.
ReplyDeleteYour blog never made the trip from Blogger Dashboard to Bloglovin'--I am finding that a lot of them didn't--glad to be following you again..just LOVE all your projects especially "Soul Searching"--that is fabulous...hugs and hello again...Julierose
ReplyDeleteYou were a busy gal with your quilting peeps! That Dresden is gorgeous. The gray dots are so perfect.
ReplyDeleteWell, look at everything you did on your retreats! I love seeing it! Looks like Vickie had a good time too. For those Dresdens - you tackle big projects! - how about a solid hot pink in the middle? Your Soul Searching blocks are wonderful too - great colors. You really make the best-est stuff. The yard tree is so pretty. And Moose... well he just looks cuddly.
ReplyDeleteHi - where would I find your Dear Jane quilt on your blog? I would like to see how you quilted it. I was told it's amazing and I'm looking for ideas.
ReplyDeleteMissy, I am replying here because there is not an email address attached to your account and you are a no-reply blogger. I hope that you see it. I have not made the Dear Jane quilt, but perhaps someone was kindly referring to the Farmer's Wife Quilt that I completed in 2013. You will find that post here:

Wow! You are busy. I love the line-up of the Leaders/Enders. I need to get that organized! And so fun to see my block all done. Glad you didn't try two of that one, as it is more time-consuming. Can't wait to see it come in the mail (don't forget the signature block).
ReplyDeleteI think your Dresdens are lovely. You may want to wait until you get a few to decide on the centers--of course, you know I always try about 4 or 5 centers for my circle blocks before I find one I like!

Your Dresden blocks are so pretty. I'd decide on the centers after I had the blocks all together. Your bee blocks arrived today. Thanks so very much. I started playing just a bit today and love the look so far. Wish I had time to focus on it but it will have to wait awhile.
ReplyDeleteI had two days away on a sewing retreat recently too. I think you were more productive than I was, but I got a lot done.
ReplyDeleteSomething bright for the Dresden centres, like pink or aqua or yellow, of course!
Moose is cute! A spoodle or groodle?
I think sewing with friends is one of the best things. Ever. Your blocks all look so amazing! I have had Dresdens on my list for a long time. Guess I'll get some practice thanks to Rene', right? You are so organized with your leaders/enders....
